I started whump.com in 1996 when I moved to California from Madison. It has survived one marriage, two dot-coms, the death of a cat, and my 40th birthday.
I work as a developer at Linden Lab. In Second Life, I’m Whump Linden. Please say hello if you run into me in-world, though I may be busy helping to make SL better or fixing broken things.
Before that I’ve worked as an engineer for Apple’s .Mac, a web developer in Apple’s HR division, a client engineer at 2Roam (RIP,) a staff engineer at OnRadio (RIP,) and as a web technologist at EPRI.
In a previous career, I worked as a consulting economist for Christensen Associates, and as a researcher at the University of Wisconsin Law School.
I’ve been overeducated in the best public institutions: a MS in Economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and a BA from the University of Texas at Austin.
I’ve been active in science fiction fandom since the 1980’s, and have gotten over a bad case of print over media snobbery.
I live in Mountain View, California with my cats Neko Miyazawa Yukino, and Neko Kanzaki Hitomi.
I’m madly in love with Cynthia, who bounces x-rays off of shiny things.
