National Disaster Mitigation Strategy

Face it, you can’t stop hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados or other forces of nature (nor can you stop a determined nutcase who thinks he’s an Agent of God) so instead of a bunker mentality, start planning from the view of minimizing damage when something bad happens.

“Mitigation supports the building (or rebuilding) of communities as models of sustainable development so that we are likely to recover more quickly from the economic impacts of natural disasters and our people are disaster survivors, not disaster victims.”
