Strategic Patent Suites [ via Tomalak ]
If you allow patents to be defined broadly, then expect to see premptive litigation to block rivals from the market. The same thing happened at the turn of the century when Curtis was granted a broad patent on aircraft control surfaces. The infant aviation industry was paralized until the Congress worked out a deal — which lead to the unhappy cartels we face today. Be very afraid. The other outcome could be that more people move to Open Source.
