Dan Gilmore on the “Open Directory Project”
Netscape is offering the link database to anyone under simple licensing terms. They are using automation to maintain the reliablity of the links, and have a forum where the subject editors can meet.
Question: given that Netscape is sharing the database, will the ‘Open Directory Project’ subject headings become defacto “Dewey Decimal” or “Library of Congress” categories on the Web?
