Alexander Cockburn’s column on the war between KPFA and its parent the Pacifica Foundation.
Cockburn puts a more sinister spin on it than is necessary, but I think the dispute boils down to a a desire by the culture at the foundation to doll-up and make nice with the big charities and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. That means taking control from the stations and marginalizing the people who are most critical of the establishment. At the age of 50, Pacifica wants a quiet life. But that’s not in the interests of the people who donate money or work for the five affiliate stations.
