I heard an interview with the author of a book on evolution, Ursula Goodenough, on KPFA this morning. It’s intended to introduce lay people with a religous background to the modern Darwinian model of evolution. It’s not an exercise in appologetics, but neither does it have the “if you don’t accept the model, you must be a loser” attitude that a Richard Dawkins takes in his books. This might be a good book to give to a friend or family member who’s wondering why you don’t believe there was a divine hand involved, and with whom you want to remain on speaking terms. (Give them a copy of Daniel Dennet’s Darwin’s Dangerous Idea later.)
