Counter Ad-Blockers Debut

Mind’s Eye software announced they are using a JavaScript widget to deny access to anyone running ad blockers. Without having a close look at this, I’d guess they are using JavaScript to look at the user agent and refusing to render the page if it’s one of the proxy-based blockers like Intermute.

It would seem that it would be easy to defeat this scheme, but also easy to detect defeats. You’d notice that

a page view doesn’t have a corresponding banner load.

Mind’s Eye is willing to sell access on a per-page basis for non-graphical browser users and anti-ad luddites like me.

The arms race has begun!
