Interview with Suzette Haden Elgin

Suzett Haden Elgin wrote a novel in the early 80’s, Native Tounge, about the same issue/fear that was the subject of Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale. Elgin imagined a situation where the re-subjugation of women was done by legal means (amending the US Constitution) rather than by violence (a theocratic dictatorship.) Native Tounge will be republished next year, so here’s an interview with Elgin, revisiting the book and the circumstances that created it.
