Davos and Mann

Davos, site of the World Economic Forum (q.v.,) is also the setting of Thomas Mann’s novel The Magic Mountain. Davos, before ski resort and Worldcon of the World’s elites, was a sanitorium town. The novel takes place in the wake of World War One at one of the hotel/sanitoriums where young, wealthy Europeans waited out death from tuberculosis.
