LLNL Bans Palm VII

[ via San Jose Mercury News ] Lawrence Livermore National Lab has banned the Palm VII because they think it could be used to download documents from a classified machine, then beam them off to some Rogue State’s laptop. This doesn’t make sense since all Palm VII traffic uses Palm.net as a proxy. I don’t think LLNL would let Palm.net through their firewalls. Any Palm from the III on has IR beaming so they should be banning IR capable devices if they’re so worried.
