The Sprocket Ensemble

We saw The Sprocket Ensemble play up in San Francisco tonight. The Ensemble creates original scores for animated films. Then they play them live, at the theater. The program had a mix of computer, cell, and clay animation pieces and the musical styles were all over. The best piece was one animated by cartoonist Nina Pauley, “Fetch,” involving a bean-shaped man, his dog, a ball, and the loss of perspective and reference frame.
