Recommended — Mar Vista Cottages in Anchor Bay

We stayed at the Mar Vista Cottages during our trip this weekend to Mendocino County. I recommend them. The new owners have been renovating them since Spring of 2000. They have retained the 1930’s character of the cottages, while installing good things like new toilets and showers. The beds have warm, comfortable down comforters. There’s a beach nearby with good tide pooling. The owners have a friendly angorra goat named Buster who trims the grass. The place is dog friendly as well. One of the proprieters used to run five star hotels in San Francisco. St. Orres (an amazing restaurant, I had the rack of venison) is five minutes south. Fifteen minutes north you can see where the San Andreas Fault enters the Pacific. At night you can look up and see the Milky Way.
