Cringely does a wireless hack
Robert X. Cringely, late of Silly Valley, lives too far from the Central Office for fast DSL. Instead, he looked for someone close to the big switch in Santa Rosa. Bought them DSL, then set up a wireless link between them and his house (10 kilometers away). It’s a clever hack, demonstrating that 802.11 has more uses than the designers thought.
