Waylon Jennings dead at 64

We should all be glad that Waylon Jennings did not get on the plane with Buddy, Richie and the Big Bopper back in 1959. If he had, then we wouldn’t have his classic songs like “Good Hearted Woman,” or “Lucille“, and ”Luckenbach“.

Unfortunately, he died today in his Arizona home.

He and Willie Nelson created a style we call Outlaw Country, which wasn’t necessarly outlaw, but rejected the glamour of Nashville’s Royalty. And the country songs I remember from my youth were written by them.

Let’s all sing a chorus for the man who got away with “a little more than the law allows.”
