Beyond W3C XML Schemas

YAS (Yet another Schematron) article at XML.com. However, for the sorts of documents I need to validate, Schematron makes more sense than XSD. XSD also has well-documented side-effects such as headache, gastric discomfort, and severe existential doubt. Did I mention namespaces?
