My dance with the Devil (Rays)

[ via Michael Rawdon ] My friend Andy Hooper does an occasional fanzine called “9 Innings”, where he narrates one of his trips to a Major League Baseball game. Those fanzines helped turn me onto baseball because Andy knows the game and can bring the history, and insider knowledge to the fore.

I hope he doesn’t have to narrate a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game. A writer for ESPN did sit through the recent drubbing Tampa Bay received from Boston (oh, yes, Boston’s on a roll, but just wait utill the second half of the season where they implode like an ultramassive star when it’s run out of fuel).

Nearly half of Boston’s games are against AL East teams who are foundering. The good news is that it gives them Seattle-like percentages. The bad news is that Boston fans will have to watch lots of extremely lame games.
