Tonight’s Spicy Noodles gathering was fun. But it’s always fun to be in the company of smart people.
Since Paul Prescod, James Hong and Dave Winer were there, REST v. SOAP was discussed. There was a guy I hadn’t met before, Johathan (?) from Adobe, who explained if you connect to ‘choreographed’ Web Services, each of which was highly specialized and stateless, you can get around the state problem by managing state yourself. He said that’s the idea behind what Microsoft’s doing with BizTalk and “SLANG” (which I had not heard of before tonight.)
Joey De Ville, Canada’s Most Patriotic Accordian Player, favored the people of Palo Alto with a cover of AC/DC’s “She Shook Me All Night Long” as we clambered down University Avenue in search of an open coffee house.
The folks at the Apple Store didn’t know what to make of a small army with an accordian player coming into the Apple Store. Where, as fate would have it, my boss, his boss and most of the other managers in my group at work were hanging out after thier dinner.
Fortunately the staff recognized Doc, and all was well.
