The Fink project’s page on hacking libtool to work with OS X came in handy last Thursday when I was working to build a PHP with Sablotron for OS X. If you’re building shared libraries for OS X, you’ll want this information, and the bash shell. Dave Becket had been running into the same problems building the Redland RDF libs, but he discovered there are new versions of libtool in CVS which work without patching.
Again, if you don’t want the hassle of building your own, you can always use Marc’s ready to go shared object, but if you’re deploying this in production, you’ll want to be able to build from scratch.
