How CDMA won

[ via CamWorld ] Stephen Den Beste talks about how CDMA won, and why Europeans may end up leaving their GSM phones.

Aside

I mentioned a couple of weeks back that I bought the Danger Sidekick handset from T-Mobile. I took it back and canceled the contract. T-Mobile, I should note, was professional, and honored their fourteen-day grace period, so I was not out a cancelation fee, just the $35 for activation.

One reason I gave up was that the voice quality over T-Mobile’s network was pretty poor. I don’t know how much that has to do with the handset, GSM v. CDMA, or T-Mobile’s infrastructure, but my clunky two-year-old Audiovox tri-mode phone just plain works on Verizon’s network.
