As part of his new show “A Thousand Years of Popular Song”, UK ¸berfolkie Richard Thompson covers Britney Spears’ pop monster “Oops, I did it again”. Thompson plays it for Terry Gross on yesterday’s Fresh Air. Thompson explains “it’s a good song in the Swedish pop tradition”. And of course, Thompson’s a great performer, so you’ll appreciate the song. As for Britney, well, the Devil can take her. I wanna hear ABBA’s cover of it next. [ about nine minutes into the segment. Oops, you need Real Player ]
Update: NPR had Thompson in-studio a couple of weeks ago, and you can hear the full-length version of his cover of “Oops!” from that page. [ Still need Real Player ].
