That’s good because Perl can be frustrating in it’s ‘more than one way to do it’-ness. For the past three years, the Perl Advent Calendar has been walking people through the use of modules from CPAN. That’s another great thing about Perl, there’s plenty of code out there waiting for you to put it to good use.
