XML Alternatives

[ via Don Park ] Paul Tchistopolskii maintains a list of alternatives to XML for serializing and representing data.

6 Feb 2003: Prentiss Riddle wonders what became of CSV and comments: “Although I think maybe CSV and other simple solutions do sometimes get short shrift as we all madly jump on our respective bandwagons.”

As someone who worked with 80 column/multi-row per entry datasets, I think that while CSV may be simple, a non-complex XML solution is not that much more difficult, and has the advantage of being understood by future users, and more robust.
