Cleaning the Stables

  • I hadn’t looked at my Trackback table in a few weeks. It was full of crap from spammers looking for Google-juice. Fortunately I could clean it out with an SQL DELETE.

    But the crapflood never stops.

  • I’m using PubSub to search RSS/Atom feeds, and now the search results are contaminated by a new gang of spammers creating sites using Blogspot to boost rankings.

Update: Wired reports on the culprit, a vendor of “heiresses gone wild” detritus called CyberQuest (are they a porn vendor or a B-Movie?)

  • Last week I received a call from a company in Redwood Shores. They saw I participated in Anil Dash’s Nigritude Ultramarine contest. They wanted to know if I’d be interested in helping with their clients’ “search engine optimization.” I politely declined.
