I worked late, so missed the premiere of Lost, but Laurel Krahn recommended Veronica Mars so I watched that instead.
Interesting stuff. There’s the gang of smart kids with witty banter, but they don’t deal with the undead. And the protagonist has seen and been through rough things. So there’s a different tone than Buffy. In this show, people don’t do evil because they’re demons.
Laurel had a quote from the series’ creator, Rob Thomas:
“We hope to be to UPN what Buffy the Vampire Slayer was to the WB.”
I’ll see if it holds up. However, next week there’s an appearance by Paris Hilton, and that can’t bode well at all.
Which reminds me of what Joss Whedon said about Buffy moving from the WB to UPN: “I mean, there’ll be wrestling. But tasteful wrestling. Wrestling with a message behind it.”
