@redredkroovy: I’m not planning on modding or racing, and a stock Civic would be a better choice for that. I’ve had a chance to look at one at a dealer. The wheel mounted shifters are interesting. I haven’t driven one so I can’t tell you how that works out in practice. The cargo area’s small unless you put the rear seats down.

From the perspective of an import-tuner enthusiast, I only like the fit for its looks - and now that you mention it - the iPod dock. It really is a neat little car - but it won’t meet my needs as far as upgrading it for a little racing whereas my ‘94 Civic coupe is one of the most versitile cars (or so I’ve heard). As an everyday driving car, the Fit doesn’t seem so bad at all. Have you checked Honda’s site for the full specs?

I’m looking at the Fit as well. I currently drive a 1990 Honda Civic stationwagon with only 75,000 miles, and want something similar (for cargo) but with air bags. The Fit sounds like just the item. Unfortunately, they don’t have any of them at the Seattle area dealerships, say they are so rare I’ll have to pay $20,000 (instead of $17,000), and keep trying to shove me over to the 2006 Civics they have in stock. Fat chance. I’ll look forward to more from you on the Fit, since you seem to be closer to purchasing than I am. (Also, I’m waiting for the Consumer Reports reviews, which aren’t due until fall.)
