Por-tu-gal!

As Ronaldo stepped up to make the penalty kick that sent England home, Cynthia asks me, “but your ancestors are English, why not root for them?”

Yeah, but Cyn’s ancestors are Portuguese.

We’re rooting for Brazil in the quarterfinal game with France, even though my friends say that rooting for Brazil’s like rooting for the Yankees. But Brazil doesn’t have a figure people can unite in hating, like Steinbrenner.

Meanwhile, we’ve got the Univision Brazil/France pre-game show on the TV, and the QuickTime stream of NASA TV for the shuttle launch on the Powerbook. ETA: NASA scrubbed due to weather, and it’s scoreless in Frankfurt at the half.

Well, my family was Portuguese longer than your family was English, so we rule by seniority.
