Petronius at Flutterby™! saw a notice that George Clooney’s producing an adaptation of Neal Stephenson’s The Diamond Age for SciFi Channel.
But there was more than one new production in that notice:
Starcrossed, from executive producers Jane Loughman and John G. Lenic, is a half-hour comedy behind the scenes of a long-running space opera, with the pilot written by David Hewlett (Stargate Atlantis).
That had me giggling. You see, back in the 1970’s, hard-SF writer Ben Bova wrote a behind-the-scenes satire about a space opera, also called The Starcrossed, which was inspired by Bova and Harlan Ellison’s mis-adventures in writing for television.
