Stevens Creek School Hubub

[ via The Sideshow ] I’d love to cut down on the politics, but this is in my backyard. You may have read a sob story claiming that the Cupertino School District banned the Declaration of Independence. It didn’t. What it did do was order a teacher to stop using a pile of biased and selectively quoted materials in the classroom.

That teacher’s suing his principal with the help from the deep pockets of the Alliance Legal Foundation.

eRiposte has the details on the materials in question.

The arguments in the handouts are stock items you hear in arguments against the Church/State firewall, and have been refuted many times before.

The good news is that the parents of the kids at Stevens Creek school also smell a rat. The Mercury News has a mediocre article on the lawsuit that goes on about Fox News’ outrage, but in the last paragraphs gets to the parents’ reaction. The parents defend the school, and as one says: If I want my kids going to church, I’ll take them.
