I love covers of songs. It’s always a treat to hear someone’s take on a Elvis Costello classic. And while I do not own a single Grateful Dead album, I have several album’s worth of covers of the Dead.
Thus, it was a great pleasure to discover Coverville, a podcasting site that puts out several half hour to three-quarter hour programs of covers every week. Furthermore, the site’s music programming has been licensed, so it’s all on the up and up.
Recent programs include a set of Bobby Darren covers, and Tim Finn singing Johnny Nash’s I Can See Clearly Now.
My only quibble is they don’t put the link to the show in an RSS enclosure, so you have to write your own script to fetch the program file into iTunes, or use a program such as iPodder.
But now, I get podcasting.
