While I remain skeptical about the movie adaptation, the first-look footage from The Golden Compass is cool.

Royal Twofer

Helen Mirren played Elizabeth I and II in a TV miniseries and a feature film. Tonight (15 Jan 2007), she received Golden Globe awards for both roles. If only there had been a science fiction film about HRH Elizabeth III made in 2006, then she could gone for the Royal Hat Trick.

Maybe Richard Dawkins could have a walk-on role where he punches a priest.

Cinemark buys Century

Cynthia and I noticed this last night when we went to see Happy Feet (fun movie, but see Liz’s comments.) We walked in to the theater at the end of a car ad. Bummer.
